불행한 사고를 겪은 가일은 자신이 어떤 감정도 느낄 수 없다는 것을 깨닫는다. 학술대회에서 자신의 모습을 모니터로 관찰하던 그녀는 예기치 못한 감정을 느낀다. 가일은 슬픔, 기쁨, 분노 등 다양한 상황을 가정해 비디오로 자신을 기록하는 실험을 하기 시작한다.(Gail, following an accident, realizes she is no longer able to feel emotion.
