회사원 P. 여느 때와 같은 무료한 날들. 여자친구의 생일날 편의점에서 조그만 선인장을 구입한다. 약속한 커피숍에서 여자친구를 기다리지만 그녀는 끝내 나타나지 않는다. 결국 P는 여자친구의 집까지 찾아가지만 그 곳에는 아무도 없다. 여자친구의 집 앞에서 잠든 P는 다음날 새벽 신문 떨어지는 소리에 잠에서 깨고 허탈한 마음에 집을 나선다. 파랗게 물든 새벽거리를 걷는 P 앞에 한 여인이 나타난다. (In the gray metropolis of Seoul, a man, P, waits his girlfriend holding the gift for her in his hand. After seemingly endless waiting in front of her house, he just walks out to the blue street of dawn.)연출의도. 도시의 삶, 소외감에 관한. 서울이란 도시, 그리고 도시의 청춘. 이야기는 거기에서 출발한다. 그리움과 소외감, 의사소통의 부재. 지하철을 타건, 버스를 타건, 편의점에 가건, 수많은 사람들과 마주친다. 늘 수많은 인연을 관계라는 단어 속에 어우른다. 20대의 감수성으로 그려본 서울이야기이다. 도시에서 수없이 마주하는 사람들과 매체들, 주인공 P는 언뜻 보기에 지극히 일상적인 남자다. 하지만 그는 분명치 않은 약속과 존재조차 의심되는 누군가를 기다린다. 편의상 '그녀'라고 하겠다. 결국 그녀는 나타나지 않는다. 연락처와 집 역시 부재하다. 도시의 삶 속에 있는 의사소통의 부재와 소외감, P는 상상과 환상에 빠져 알 수 없는 그녀를 갈망한다. 거친 들고찍기와 서울의 몽타쥬들을 통해 도시가 전해주는 소외감을 표현하고자 했다. 아울러 음악의 쓰임새로 나름대로 드라마 구축에 보탬이 되고자 했다. 마지막 장면의 군중들을 보여줌으로써 질문을 던진다. '과연 우리는 함께인가?' (Life as a city dweller - a sense of alienation. The story begins from a young man in Seoul. Sense of alienation, yearning, and failing of communication is there. Whether he rides a subway, bus or goes to a convenient store, he runs into many people. There are numerous relationships. The film is about Seoul which is seen through an eye of 20 something. The protagonist P seems an ordinary guy who we meet everyday. But he is waiting for a person and it is not clear if the person even exists. Let’s say the person is “she”. She doesn’t show up. Her address and telephone number are unknown. Lack of communication and a sense of alienation are found in the city life. Indulged in fantasy and imagination, P yearns for her who is unknown. I tried to present the sense of estrangement through rough hand-held camera works and images of Seoul. Also I added some music to back up the drama. The crowd at the last shot is a question ? are we really together?)
