도시 빈민의 어려운 삶을 한 사건을 통해 살펴보게 되는 줄거리. 한 아이의 시체가 한강에서 발견되고 그것에 대한 수사가 진행된다. 조사 도중 타살이 아닌 병사로 아이가 죽었다는 것이 발견된다. 아이는 외상이 전혀 없이 흰 천에 싸인 채 향이 놓여 있고 입 안에는 쌀이 가득히 들어있다. 노련한 수사관인 종민은 이번 사체 유기 사건에 묘한 흥미를 느끼게 되나 바쁜 업무와 다른 중요 사건에 투입되어 이것을 잊어 버리게 된다. 그리고 3개월쯤 뒤 우연한 기회에 한강에서 다시 기억을 되살리는 일을 목격하게 된다. 그리고 추적이 이루어지고 아이를 사체 유기한 한 어머니와 수사관이 만나게 된다. 수사관 종민은 이 어머니가 화장할 경비조차 없어 강에다 아이를 장사 지낸 빈민가 사람이란 걸 알게 된다. (The story shows us the poor people’s harsh circumstances in the modern big city through the criminal case. A young boy’s body is found in the Han river which is located in the center of Seoul. The boy doesn’t have any wound and there is a burnt incense with him. Also a handful of rice is in his mouth. The experienced detective “Jong Min” is interested in this case but the result of the autopsy turns out that this is not a murder case. The boy had meningitis in the brain and it eventually killed him. The case is closed and Jong Min investigates other incidents. Three month later, Jong Min remembers the boy’s case unexpectedly on the chase of other incident. He follows a suspect for the boy’s case and finds out who the criminal is. However Jong Min realizes that the suspect is the boy’s mother and she performed funeral herself in the river because she didin’t even have the money for her son’s funeral service.)연출의도. 한강에서 아이의 시체가 발견되었는데 살해된 것이 아니라 장례를 치룬 것이라는 기사를 보게 되었다. 극빈층 어머니가 사회적 무관심속에 벌인 이 ‘한강 장례식’ 사건을 보고 거대한 도시 속에 살아가는 현대인들의 무관심과 무력한 환경을 드러내고 싶었다. (There once was a report that a young boy's body was found in Han River in the center of Seoul. However it turned out that mother of the boy performed funeral herself in the river because she didin’t even have the money for her son’s funeral service.
