대형 마트 때문에 장사가 잘 되지 않는 동네 슈퍼에 술에 취한 아버지 대신 일을 하게 된 기영. 하루 종일 동네를 뛰어다녀보지만 한명의 손님도 오지 않는다. 저녁이 돼서야 찾아온 한 꼬마아이가 초코파이를 찾는데 슈퍼안에서 보이지 않는다. 기영은 아이에게 초코파이를 주기 위해서 대형마트로 간다. (A small supermarket is not a good business due to the big market any longer. Ki-young gets to work there instead of his alcoholic father. There is no single customer to come to his supermarket any longer. Finally, one kid comes in the late afternoon, but they don't have what he wants. Ki-young goes to the big market to give it to him.)연출의도. 지금 우리의 동네가 사라져간다. 오래된 구멍가게와 비디오 가게, 작은 떡볶이 집등 사라져가는 흔적들만큼 우리의 경험과 추억의 폭은 점점 좁아져 가고 있다. 어느 순간부터 시작된 대형화되고 규격화된 것들에 의해서 사라져가고 있는 것은 다름 아닌 내가 서 있는 삶의 자리이다. 그 자리에 선 우리가 잊지 말아야 할 소중함에 대해서 이야기 해보고 싶었다. (Our town is going to disappear now. The range of our experience and memory is getting to be narrowed as if it has faded away such as old small store, video store and small snack bar ect. What is going to evaporate by big and standardize from some other day, was none other than my life position that I stand.
