20대 중반의 평범한 회사원 순길은 반복되는 일상에서 짜증을 느끼고, 어느 비오는 오후 조퇴를 한다. 비오는 거리에서, 자신의 주변을 서성이던 검은 코트를 발견한 순길은 검은 코트의 뒤를 쫓지만 놓치고 만다. 집에 돌아온 순길은 따뜻한 차와 함께 못다 읽은 책을 읽다 잠이 드는데, 그 사이 검은 코트가 방으로 들어선다. 익숙한 듯 옷을 걸고, 차를 마시고, 책을 읽는 검은 코트. 순길과 똑같은 모습의 검은 코트가 안타까운 듯 순길이 잠든 모습을 바라본다. (One rainy day ordinary office worker, Soon-gil suddenly leaves the office earlier than usual. She's been searching for a vent. On a rainy street, it occurs to her that she can meet "her". And a woman in black coat appears in front of her from nowhere, with the same book of Soon-gil's in her hand. Soon-gil chases her but looses the sight of her in the labyrinth-like allies. Arriving at home, she reads the book drinking a cup of tea and falls to asleep. Then the black coat woman comes into the room and stares Soon-gil as if Soon-gil is another part of her.)연출의도. 난 가끔 내 오른쪽 뒤통수 위 25°쯤 되는 곳에서 또 다른 내가 날 쳐다보고 있다는 느낌을 받곤 한다. 그것이 자의식인지 초자아인지 또는 혼인지는 모르겠지만, 무엇이든 간에 나를 지켜보고 판단하고 때때로 안타까워하기도 하는 내 안에서 나온 또 다른 나의 시선이라는 것을 알고 있다. 그 또 다른 시선은 아주 평범한 삶, 작은 일상 속, 모든 곳에 작은 핵으로 숨어 있다가 어느 순간 자신으로부터 돌출 되어 나타난다. 눈앞을 스쳐 지나쳐도 결코 잡을 수 없고, 바로 곁에 존재해도 마주볼 수 없는 또 다른 존재로서의 나! 그 분열된 존재와의 메워질 수 없는 거리 속에서 사람들은 고통과 비애를 맛보고, 또 다른 존재와 현실의 자아와의 거리를 좁히기 위해 인생의 긴 미로를 헤맨다. 그 끊임없는 길찾기 속에서 자연에 파묻혀 명상에 잠겨드는 어느 높은 선비의 그림(고사관수도)처럼, 긴 여정 속의 나무그늘 같은, 자신을 되돌아보고 추스르는 계기가 되는 영화를 만들고 싶었다. (Sometimes, I feel another me is looking at me from 25 degree above of my right head. I’m not certain if that is my self-consciousness, superego, or soul, but I know it stares me and sometimes worries about me. It is my another gaze. In a certain moment, another gaze, which usually hides behind mundane life, pops out from oneself. It’s another me who I can’t see face to face nor I can grab. During their lives, people wander around to narrow down the distance in between oneself and one’s another self. The gap can’t be bridged and we suffer from the pain. I wanted to make a self-reflective film on finding the way.)
