재석은 산업재해로 시한부 판정을 받자 고향인 남면으로 향한다. 사람들이 죄다 도시로 떠난 마을, 이제는 폐가가 되어버린 옛집. 그를 맞이하는 것은 벽에 걸린 낡은 가족사진만 덩그러니 있을 뿐이다. 하루에 두 번 버스가 다니는 남면, 재석은 출산이 임박한 임산부 일행과 동승하게 된다. 폭설이 내리는 언덕에서 버스는 고장이 나서 멈추고 출산의 순간이 임박하자 버스에 탄 사람들은 바빠진다. 한바탕 소동 끝에 새로운 생명이 탄생하는 경이로운 순간. 재석은 생의 마지막 힘을 소진하며 가쁜 숨을 내쉰다. It visualizes the scenery of the province of Gangwon-do as well as various feelings of people on the bus.)연출의도. 오래 전 한 친구의 죽음에 충격을 받아 여행을 떠났던 때가 있다. 여행길에 잠시 들른 고향에서 우연히 송아지의 탄생과정을 보게 되었다. 그 순간, 난 죽은 친구를 떠올렸고, 생명이 ‘죽음과 탄생이 동시에 쉼 없이 이루어지는 이어달리기의 바통터치가 아닐까?’하는 생각을 했다. 친구의 죽음과 갓 태어난 송아지의 울음소리는 계속 지워지지 않고 내 인생의 바랑에 담겨 있었는데, 이제야 마무리를 짓는다. 바랑이 하나 있는데 채워도 다 채워지지 않으며, 비워도 다 비워지지 않는다. - 법장 스님 (The man who was given a limited life as industrial disaster victim visited his home. For a long time, only a faded frame of picture left a trace of life. When a rural bus was stoped at the inside of a mountain by heavy snowfall and break-down, a pregnant woman was bleeding suddenly at that time. After he spent the rest of his little strength, his breath passed away slowly and his face looked peaceful although he had sorrow.)
