할아버지와 살고 있는 일본계 3세인 줄리는 언제나 신비와 우울 속에 빠져 있다. 어린 시절 오사카 연안에서 사고로 익사한 어머니에 대한 기억 때문이다. 줄리는 특별한 이유도 없이 애인에게 이별을 선언하고, 오랫동안 계획해 왔던 여행에도 무관심해진다. 그러던 중 새로운 남자 테수로를 만나 사랑에 빠진다. 그는 최근에 일본에서 온 한국계 청년이다. 테수로와 줄리는 만남을 거듭할수록 개인적, 문화적 이질감을 깨닫게 되고, 두 사람은 별다른 노력 없이 쉽게 헤어진다.
