(In Korea, a society that prefers boy children, a woman desires a son to help fit her into society. While carrying out women's roles imposed by society, she begins to question her role in society and finally chooses to break with it. Filmed in a symbolic way.)연출의도. 한국사회에서 한 여성이 아들을 낳는다는 것은 큰 의미가 있다. 어머니에게 아들은 삶을 안정시켜주는 하나의 필요조건이며 나아가 힘이 된다. 인생의 한 국면에서 작은 의미 이상을 가지지 못하는 남아선호사상의 초라함을 한 장의 가족사진 -할머니와 손자로 구성된-을 통해 보여주려 했다. (Having a son means a lot to Korean women; this gives them power and security in the family structure. The per .ception of son-preference is perpetuated by women themselves: women use the mother-daughter relationship to encourage the practice of favoring boys. This film is intended to question the value of keeping an old custom and how such a custom manipulates women's lives in contemporary Korean society.)
